Thursday, February 21st, 2008I am very excited to announce the appointment of former Victorian player Sharon Ruyg as coach of our U15 girls ‘A’ grade squad for 2008. Sharon played for Victoria from junior levels right through to a lengthy period in the senior Vic team, and was also vice-captain of the Australian Country team after returning to regional hockey in her latter hockey playing years. Sharon has terrific junior coaching experience also, coaching at all junior age groups, principally with the West Vic Academy (association rep teams from Ballarat).

Junior State Championships Selectors
Hockey Victoria is seeking expressions of interest for selectors at the Just Hockey Junior State Championships, @ State Hockey Centre 30th June – 6th July 2008. If you are interested contact Jim Lekkas at jlekkas@hockeyvictoria.org.au
Umpire Assessment
Hockey Victoria is hosting umpire assessment days at the U/18 Womens Regional Championships over the weekend of March 8th, 9th & 10th and Vic Stix Interzone Weekend Tournament on March 15th & 16th.

Men's and Ladies Pre-Season News
Thursday, February 21st, 2008I think it can be said for both sections – pre-season has kicked off with extremely positive numbers and feedback. Preseason schedules and information has been sent to both sections. Both sections are welcoming new members, please make sure you make them feel welcome.
Please make sure you attend the respective Men’s and Ladies player’s meetings coming up and let Nicole or Tom know if you can not play on any of the practice match weekends.
Summer hockey season has finished – we have 2 ladies teams in finals in the Thursday night comp and 2 men’s teams in finals on Tuesday night comp and 1 mixed team in finals on Saturday afternoon. Good luck to all. Thank you to the managers of the summer teams.

Ladies News
Thursday, February 21st, 2008Pre-season has started with a bang! With between 25-40 girls attending the first sessions, with encouraging numbers and new members, this season is sure to be exciting. Reminder that the Ladies Player’s Meeting will be held Tuesday 4th March at FHC 8.30pm following training. The FHC State League Ladies will be competing in the Hockey Show Cup!
