2008 Junior State Championship Nominations
Nomination Forms are now available for players for the 2008 Just Hockey Junior State Championships. These can be
accessed from the HV website via the News Item or the Events section.
Hockey Victoria AGM
Our FHC delegate, Nicole, attended the HV AGM and exercised FHC’s right o VOTE on the appointments of 4 board positions. Shaun Dooley, Chris Chittick, Joe Hough and Glenda Wilson were appointed. Inducted Life Member was Cheryl Blair. The HV Annual Report can be found on top of the fridge in the canteen if anyone would like a look!
State Hockey Centre Entry Fee
One interesting point of discussion was the misconception by many of those who play hockey that they State Netball and Hockey Centre Entry fee is controlled and profited by Hockey Victoria. This is NOT the case – SHC is run by a completely separate organisation from Hockey Victoria.
Sporting Pulse Fixtures
The fixtures for senior Men’s and Women’s are up on sporting pulse, however HV advise there may still be a few changes made between now and the start of the season.
Congratulations
Wednesday, March 19th, 2008Liz Fields and Adam Purtel who tied the knot on Friday 14th March in a beautiful ceremony held at Cleaveland Winery in Lancefield.
Congratulations Zora & Nicole Odzovski – expecting the 2nd edition to the family later this year
Ground Report
Wednesday, March 19th, 2008We are hoping that at the end of this coming season we will be, at minimum, re-surfacing our sandbased pitch (with a new ‘hybrid’
wet-dry pitch) and creating a synthetic-surfaced hit-up area in the space to the north of our changerooms. The cost to FHC will
be just short of $300,000. If our luck is in though, and we receive a state government contribution that we are lobbying for, we will also be recarpeting the wet pitch at the same time, with FHC having to put up $460,000 towards a $1,100,000 scale of works.
Thank you volunteers
Given either scenario in the ground report, our tremendous volunteerism across last weekend’s U18 Girls State C’Ships at McIvor
Reserve not only put a massive $5,000 into the Club’s building fund, but it also demonstrated the fantastic spirit that is driving our
Club forward. In previous times these events have had to be carried by the same dozen or so Club stalwarts, but we seem to have
struck a formula where a shared contribution by many delivers an even better outcome for our Club.
Thank-you to all that called in. You have put a smile on the faces of all the old-timers around the Club, particularly the Treasurer!

Hockey Show Cup
Wednesday, March 19th, 2008
The State League 2 ladies squad played in the first round of the Cup against Doncaster, which proved to be a very competitive match. Both teams had opportunity to score and defended extremely well. The final result was 2 – 0, Doncaster awarded 2 strokes and converted. A commendable effort to the girls who played and coaches for preparing a squad in such a short space of time. Thank you to the supporters, especially the men who arrived early to water and cheer us on!
