27 October 2012  The Victorian Women have defeated NSW in the Grand Final of today’s Australian Hockey League Grand Final and crowned the 2012 Champions. Grand Final Day Results Grand Final Victoria 5 def New South Wales 1 (half time 4-1) Goals VIC: Own goal (7m), Claire Messent (26m FG), Stephanie Riordan (30m FG), Sam Ellis (35m PC), Danielle Schubach (37m FG) NSW:Georgina Morgan (4m PC) The Victoria Vipers are the 2012 AHL Champions after defeating the NSW Arrows 5-1 in the Gold Medal match at Perth Hockey Stadium today. NSW flew out of the blocks when Georgina Morgan slotted home nicely from a Penalty Corner, after only 4 minute played, but then it was allVictoria, as they scored the 5 goals in 30 minutes to overrun the Arrows in a dominant display of Grand Final hockey. VIC got on the board at the 7 minute mark when NSW accidently deflected the ball past their own keeper Toni Cronk, to tie up the scores. From then on the Vipers could seemingly do no wrong, with Messent was playing some exceptional hockey in midfield and then getting into good positions inside the circle. Vic Vipers to play NSW in AHL final – good luck Sam

Good luck to FHC’s Sam Ellis in the Grand Final. Semi Final 2 – VIC Vipers 2 def WA Diamonds 1 Goals VIC: Erica Trahar (21 FG) Claire Messent (70 PC) WA: Searle (33 PC) In today’s 2nd Semi Final, hosts WA Diamonds faced the VIC Vipers in a replay of the Round 7 match, where WA won 3?2 in a thrilling and tight contest. Both teams would have analyzed what worked and what didn’t in the Round 7 match and looked for new ways to trouble the opposition this time around. VIC started the stronger of the teams, with them doing most of the attacking in the early stages of this Semi Final. There effort paid off at the 21st minute mark when some confusion in the Diamonds defence structure saw Erica Trahar able to slot it home from close range after an shot on target, was blocked by WA Goalkeeper Kate Hubble. WA then started to make some nice runs forward of their own, earning a few corners. The first one was struck strongly by Jemma Buckley but unluckily for the Diamonds, struck the outside of the right goal post and then was cleared by the VIC defence. Shortly after WA won another PC, this time though they made the most of the chance, as a nice pass by defender Kobie McGurk, found Jodie Searle unmarked on the...

Under 15 Girls State Tournament Report by Luke Michael (Coach)

With one of the youngest teamsVictoria has sent away, confidence was still high. We ended up only losing one match, two draws and four wins. Best results against QLD in seven years with a draw and a win over WA.We had our chances to win more games and win by more goals but failed to convert in front of goals. Georgia Hopkins and Carly James in their first year of fifteens played important roles and Olivia Colasurdo showed her experience in most games setting up the forward line for numerous goals. All footscray players did a great job. Our own Lisa Anderson in her first year as manager was fantastic. Well done girls on a great tournament  in Canberra.  Luke Michael...
