March 16th marked the first weekend of 3 practice matches scheduled before round 1.

Premier League (2) defeated Mentone (1).

The Premier League Reserve side played Mentone on Saturday at Footscray in our first practice match against another club. The women played a solid game, performing against Mentone at a level above that played in competition last year. I am very happy with the all women’s effort. We won 1/0, a good start to the practice matches. Thanks team.

Reserves (1) defeated Mentone (0).

Pennant A played in the Werribee Tournament and were the Runners Up in the Grand Final against Geelong, decided by strokes.

Fantastic effort by the PA women, led brilliantly by Lauren Hopkins and Sheridan Corless. To lose in strokes to Geelong (a State League 2 team) was just amazing. Having smashed Werribee SL3 & their seconds 3-1 and 3-0, we went on to storm into the grand final with a resounding 11-1 win over PEGS. Season 2013 looks very promising… Thank you to our wonderful team and a big “Thank you” to Alicia Duggan, Lisa Anderson and Ning Boonprakob. Thank you to all the parents for your support and also well done to Werribee Hockey club for a well organised tournament. Cheers….

Pennant B (1) lost to Mentone PA (3).

Pennant B had to step up and play Mentone Pennant A in  cold blustery conditions  as FHC’s PB side were blitzing in the local Werribee Tournament against Vic League 2 Clubs. The PB side had a few unavailabilities so it was a perfect opportunity for some younger Metro girls to have a go! The Mentone outfit was strong and solid however the FHC girls remained competitive throughout the whole match. Going down 3 – 1 was a valiant effort given the opposition and blooding a few youngsters into the team.

Metro 1, 2 & 3
The Metro teams played intra club practice matches against each other and it was a great opportunity for the coaches to see all players!
