PINK DAY

Pennant A (top) Pennant B Support Pink Day 16th June 2013

The break over the long weekend seemed to negatively affect the flow of a few of our teams. A couple of close score lines with two great wins this week for M2S and M1N.

Pennant A 0 lost Mentone 5

Not the best game we have played this season, but lots of learnings have come out of this expereince- especially what is needed to go to the next level in this competition. This strong and experienced Mentone team – most have played at State League 2 / Premier league level. Let’s train hard this week girls and make amends next round.

Pennant B 0 lost Mentone 2

In Round 9 Pennant B faced Mentone. Despite some strong canine support for FHC the team lost to Mentone 2/0. Some encouraging play was demonstrated when the team did as the on the day coach Ryan Tout had asked. Mentone played a tough game and came out victorious.

 Metro 1 North 3 def Yarra 0 Goals L Lang 3

Coming off the bye, FHC were a bit scratchy this week. The team was missing some players and also had some late arrival issues, but did not look like conceding. Once the team found a bit of run and got organised, the team turned in a solid game. As was discussed after the game, winning ugly gets you 3 points just like winning beautifully. A great effort by this team to get to the halfway mark on top of the ladder, lets make sure we stay there!

Metro 1 South 0 lost Kew 4

Metro 2 North 0 drew Knox 0

Metro 2 South 9 def Meontone 0 Goals T Bezzobs, K Clark, M di Benedetto 3, H Hage, C Ong 2, J White

After taking out 4th position and sneaking back into the 4 last week, FHC made a solid announcement this week by displacing the 3rd side Mentone with a crushing 9-0 defeat! A special mention to Lily Inghram who stepped up from juniors (to cover for FHC injured goalkeeper) and fended off every attack successfully; a great seniors debut effort! A series of successful short corners, and several outstanding plays saw FHC up 6-0 at half time. The second half began a little more defensively before FHC got back into rhythm and slammed home three more goals. The hardest job for FHC was trying to determine best on ground – it was another outstanding team effort, well done team!
