Women’s Round 14 Results

The FHC teams are all working hard to remain or make into onto the top four in preparation of the finals, with only a handful of rounds left until finals hit. Premier League 1 lost Hawthorn 4 Goal M Singh A massive game for this season and to see where the young kids are at with Leah Merrett and Alex Ochsendorf out for this game, as well as Nicola Hancock from last week. From the start Hawthorn had the team on the back foot as the backs did not communicate or listen and failed to cover each other which allowed easy goals and a three nil half time lead to Hawthorn. The second half saw an improved game and scored a goal with Monica Singh scoring in a corner. Hawthorn scored late to win 1-4. Olivia Colasurdo and Sam Ellis our best players.   Premier League Reserves 1 drew Hawthorn 1Goal E Druce Round 14 was a physical contest for the Premier League Reserve team, to which our women stood up against a bigger and stronger team, who are on top of the ladder.  We scored first early in the second half, unfortunately making a defensive error leading them to score towards the end of the match. Best players: Georgia Cutrale, Paula Van Meeuwen and Rachel Browne.   Pennant A 4 def Southern United 1 Goals C Burt 2,...

Three of the nine teams are currently in the top four, with M1N in the top spot, M2S holding second position and PB number four on the ladder. Premier League 1 lost Essendon Ladies 5 Goal L Merret Another big game for the young doggies against a top four side would ensure we see how the player development is coming along . A nervous looking FHC team in the first half were struggling to match Essendon’s strength for the 50/50 balls and went into half time 0-2 down. The team started the second half better and struggled to convert corners but a great run from Captain Leah Merrett who finished off in style, showed our younger players how important strength on ball matters and scored a blistering shot to the top right hand side of goals. The scored stayed the same way for a while but Essendon scored two late goals in the last few minutes to win 1-4.   Premier League 0 drew Camberwell 0 Another tightly fought battle with both teams having several opportunities to score. Unfortunately the team did not capitalise on the opportunities. Another great defensive effort from our team. Best players were Kaitlin Grimaldi, Jess Snaize and Lisanne Lamers. Premier League Reserves 0...
