H’Vics Futures Squad: Congratulations to Olivia Colasurdo and Georgia Hopkins

Congratulations Olivia Colasurdo & Georgia Hopkins Selected for the H’Vic Futures Squad: See Link Below. Well done to all the coaches, members and players who have supported their development since their beginning at Footscray Hockey Club! Hockey Victoria is pleased to announce the inaugural Women’s Victoria Futures Squad (VFS).  The VFS is a newly established program conducted jointly by Hockey Victoria and Victoria Institute of Sport (VIS) for National and State identified athletes with the potential to transition into VIS Scholarship holders, National Squads and represent Hockey Victoria in future State Teams. Athletes will be exposed to a quality training environment which targets the development of athletes on field through technical and tactical coaching and also the development of athletes physically and personally. The VFS is classified as a Tier 5 program as per Hockey Australia’s Athlete Categorisation Framework. Congratulations to the following athletes selected into the 2013-2014 squad following involvement and performance with Hockey Victoria’s State Teams at the under 18 and under 21 National Championships as well as National Future program involvement. Athletes are identified and assessed by National Junior Coaches, National Selectors, VIS Head Coaches and Victorian State Team coaches.   NOTE: There are still athletes being considered for the VFS from performance at the  under 16 School Sport Australia Championship and announcement of the National Futures program which will be finalized early next week....

Women’s Round 18 Results

The 2013 season has finished and now we head into the finals. Well done to every FHC member and your effort with your team this year. Great big congratulations to M1N with an outstanding season finishing on top of the ladder and gaining a promotion to Pennant C after one season in M1N. Final positions on the ladder: Premier League 5th Premier League Reserves 9th Pennant A 8th Pennant B 4th Metro 1 North 1st Metro 1 South 8th Metro 2 North 5th (equal points to 4th, a goal difference) Metro 2 South 2nd Metro 3 North 8th Good luck to the teams in the finals, PB, M1S and M2S. Finally, a brief mention of the Women’s Masters Teams of 2013. The Women’s Masters 35+ A Grade finished 8th, not a bad effort considering the scurrying made to have a full team each week in the early part of the season.
