In recognition of the achievement and contribution of women and girls to the hockey community, HV has set aside this weekend and either adjacent round as ‘Women and Girl’s Round’. Our club is proud to be part of this initiative and hope that each member can participate in the activities.

What does it mean for you?

PLAYERS AND SPECTATORS

Wear pink to your game to show your support! Gold coin donation for breast cancer research at the ground on Saturday afternoon. Check the Women’s Round flier for match times and try to support our female teams either weekend. Contact any past female players that you know and invite them along to the WPL game Sat 14th May at 3.30 and a cuppa afterwards. Show your appreciation to all the female workers around the club and if you get the chance a word of gratitude to our 4 female Board members – Nicole Virtuoso (life member), Karen Johnstone, Cindy Poole and Lauren Dick. Please also show gratitude to our female life members Lynn Gale, Bobbie Speed, Julie Anne Sheehan, Heather Shaw and Chris Henderson.

JUNIOR GIRL’S HOME GAMES

Wear pink ribbons during your games (J.A. will supply pink ribbons to your team manager). Stay while the medal is presented to the MVP at the home game either 6th FridaySaturday 7th or Sunday 8th. Try to get along and cheer for another team either weekend.

SENIOR WOMEN’S HOME GAMES

Wear pink ribbons during your home game (team manager or team rep. to collect from canteen next Thursday night).  Stay for medal presentation of MVP after your game Sat 7th or Sun 8th. Organise food to share with your team after the home game on the 14th May and make the opposition feel welcome to join you. Nicole will contact opposition clubs to invite them to join your team for an after match spread.

PREMIER LEAGUE AND RESERVES MEN AND WOMEN HOME GAMES

Wear pink socks for your home game (Men’s sizes  available from HQ , Women: see Nicole) . Invite female family members to your match and welcome them to join you in the afternoon tea after your game.
