Women’s Round 6 Results

A mixed bag of results this week, tipping to the win side. The ladder standings look great! Check out Bulldog Banter for the positions of each team. The results are certainly something the Women’s Section can be proud of. Premier League 1 lost Greensborough 6 Goal  N Hancock This was a huge game for both teams as a win in this round would give the victors a break from the rest of the competition. FHC went into the game confident, if the whole game was played out with that confidence then FHC had a chance to win the game. The game got underway with FHC dominating play and earned the first corner very quickly. FHC ended up earning lots of corners in the first half but failed to convert. Greensborough, on a break away, capitalsed on a defensive error and scored to take the lead. FHC hit back later in the first with Nicola Hancock scoring off a rebound. FHC dominated the first half but failed to convert which proved costly later in the game. The second half started with both teams providing good chances to score but it was Greensborough that scored first to take the lead, and not long after that goal, they scored twice more and took a four goal to one lead. Women’s Round 5 Results

What a terrific round this week! No team lost, six wins and three draws. Well done to everyone. Congratulations to Olivia Colasurdo, Georgia Hopkins, Bethany Russ and Amy Scott who have been selected to represent the Victorian Under 18 Women’s hockey team competing in the National Championships in Canberra later in the year. Bethany and Georgia are 14 years old and Olivia is 16 years old with Amy the veteran turning 18 soon. All players will play an integral role to bringing home the gold medal. Congratulations to Sam Curtrale on umpiring in the Premier league this year. His last game was in the nail biter with Essendon drawing there match with TEM. This is a great reward for Sam who has worked hard to develop his skills umpiring across all grades and helping out with as many games as he could while watching Georgia playing. Well done Sammy and congratulations again.   Premier League 4 def Doncaster 3 Goals O Colasurdo, G Hopkins 2, N Hancock A massive match for FHC with both teams needing a win to stay in touch with the top four. Doncaster got off to a flying start dominating play with great speed and hardness. Doncaster struggled to get a free shot off and finally what seemed like an eternity FHC started to work the ball out of the back line and ended up getting a corner....
