On a bright Saturday morning the Footscray Pennant A team made the long trip over the Westgate Bridge to play against TEMS Pennant A. The game started at a slow pace due to the team trying a new playing formation. Slowly the confusion died and the skill of the players came to the surface. TEMS, a team of some very experienced and some young skillful players was always going to be hard. After a mixed up first half, where FHC lead 1-0, the team came back in the second half to score two exciting field goals, to end the match 3-0 up. The Pennant A squad of 2013 is an exciting, youthful, skillful and extremely positive side. Season 2013 looks very promising.
Pennant B played a great game against a very experienced TEMS team. FHC maintained possession for the most part and were able to penetrate the goal circle on a number of occasions providing opportunities for some good shots but unfortunately were unable to convert them into goals. The defence was great and the defensive corners were sharp, keeping the score at nil all until an untimely departure of a central player with an injury leaving a team of ten on the pitch. TEMS took full advantage of this resulting in a 1/0 defeat to FHC.
