Hockey Victoria is pleased to announce the inaugural Women’s Victoria Futures Squad (VFS).

The VFS is a newly established program conducted jointly by Hockey Victoria and Victoria Institute of Sport (VIS) for National and State identified athletes with the potential to transition into VIS Scholarship holders, National Squads and represent Hockey Victoria in future State Teams.

Athletes will be exposed to a quality training environment which targets the development of athletes on field through technical and tactical coaching and also the development of athletes physically and personally. The VFS is classified as a Tier 5 program as per Hockey Australia’s Athlete Categorisation Framework.

Congratulations to the following athletes selected into the 2013-2014 squad following involvement and performance with Hockey Victoria’s State Teams at the under 18 and under 21 National Championships as well as National Future program involvement. Athletes are identified and assessed by National Junior Coaches, National Selectors, VIS Head Coaches and Victorian State Team coaches.

NOTE: There are still athletes being considered for the VFS from performance at the  under 16 School Sport Australia Championship and announcement of the National Futures program which will be finalized early next week.
NOTE: Players must be eligible for the under 21 State Team in the following year of the VFS being announced.

The program will run for September 2013 – March 2014 with two training blocks (November-December, January-February) and intensive days. The program will commence with two days in the school holidays on Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th September.

Athletes will be provided with a minimum one term of the program before consideration due to to transitioning to a higher level (VIS), age ineligibility (turning 22 years of age in the following year of program commencement), de-selection from the program due to lack of performance or commitment.
