The first half of the season seems to have been reached quickly, keeping everyone around Footscray Hockey Club very busy. 600 + members have registered to play this season and over 50 teams taking the pitch. The results have been mixed across all the teams, but more often than not, successful. Wishing everyone a fabulous second half to the season.
The board continue to work hard on the Council Pavilion Project and are very pleased the F2 repairs are now complete. Not having F2 has impacted our ability to generate extra ground and canteen revenue. Look out for some further initiatives over the back end of the season to help raise some more funds. In particular we hope to see you enjoy the Bogan Bingo Night 21st July organised by the Junior Committee and a Trivia Night 18th August organised by the Senior Section.
We were very saddened by the passing of Dalma and Graham Whinney and Sylvia McColl. All wonderful contributors to hockey and the community. The FHC representation at their memorials was something to be proud of and we again send our deepest sympathies to family and friends. We will cherish the fabulous hockey memories forever.
As the cold winter months set in, I urge everyone to continue to get out on the training pitch and to games. I hope all the teams in the top 4 are able to hold their positions and enjoy finals. For those within reach keep striving for a spot in September action, and those out of touch I hope you finish out the season better than the first half.
Also remember to respect and appreciate the officials at all times, as a player, coach and spectator.
All the best! Go Doggies.
