This week Bridgette de la Mere was awarded the Don Deeble Rising Sports Star Award through the Western Sports Academy. Bridgette’s family, Alex Shirley, Phil Frost, Nicole Virtuoso, Rodney Johnstone, Julie-Anne Sheehan and Carly James went to the presentation dinner held at Medway Golf Club to see Bridgette presented with the award and prizes.

‘Bridgette de la Mere was destined to pursue a sport. She tried swimming, netball, football, athletics and many more, all which challenged her. The talented teen would settle on hockey as a 10 -year-old at Corpus Christi Primary School in Kingsville. “I chose hockey when we had a hockey player come to school and showed us how to play,” she said.’
