Research shows that as we age we’re more likely to encounter frequent physical illness’ which have been linked to experiences of anxiety and depression related mental health problems.
Unfortunately, many people over 65 still seem to feel there is a stigma attached to depression and anxiety, viewing them as weaknesses or character flaws rather than a genuine health condition.
They may also feel more hesitant in seeking help and ignore symptoms until they are at crisis point.
Mental health and mental illnesses can be hard to manage and if you need help there are lots of places to find support. Early intervention is crucial and there are many options for support.
The best place to get support is with mental health professionals.
It is ok not to be ok. It is ok to ask for help.
