Zac commenced his umpiring journey in the U10 intra-club competition and worked his way through U10 and U12 HV on a Saturday morning. Keen to continue, he jumped into Friday night juniors. His first tournament was the Women’s Senior Country Championships in Geelong, then the Junior State Championships. By this stage, he was regularly umpiring lower-grade senior games and summer indoor. Mentored by Mel Sanders early on, then Sam Cutrale, Zac had a solid base to extend his skills.
Zac was invited to the U13 National Championships where the high-performance team took notice of him and he began mentorship from some of Vic’s great umpires. He hasn’t looked back, working his way through the higher senior grades into Vic League and further National Championships, recently the U16s.
With immense family support along his journey, Round 11 marked Zac’s first Men’s Premier League game.
Congratulations Zac on all your hard work in the officials space!!
