The FHC first had a great win in Round 10 as did M2S.
Premier League 2 def Camberwell 0 Goals L Merret, M Singh
A huge game this week for the team, after the last two draws the team needed a win to keep in reach of the top four. Camberwell are winning some massive games and are well drilled, fit and fast. A few issues were addressed during the week about the way we have been playing and players have been challenged to improve. The game got underway with both teams working hard but FHC getting the edge and working a few corners but it was debutante Monica Singh in her first game in the ones scoring a field goal with great positioning deflecting the ball into the goals to give the dogs the lead. As the first half came to an end FHC earned another corner and Leah Merrett scored to give FHC the 2-0 nil lead going into half time. The team has been in this situation before and coughed up the lead, this time the team steeled themselves to not let in any goals and while we made some great attacking runs failed to score and earn a corner. The team did not let in any goals and Camberwell hit the post, had open shots at goal but could not score due to our scramble in front of our defensive goal. FHC toughed out the game and played with great intensity and work rate which the team have not had the last couple of weeks. The big question is if the team can keep up the hard work.

Pennant A 1 drew Altona 1 Goal Lisanne Lamers
The Pennant A girls had 90% of the play and Altona’s only combat was to play 11 in the defensive circle which made it very hard to penetrate the goals. The Altona goalie was certainly best on ground for the day saving so many shots.Luck just wasn’t on our side with 3 posters and near misses by inches. 14 corners still could not convert. The scoreline certainly did not match the team’s efforts. The most disappointing aspect was one quick break away from Altona resulted in a goal making it a draw. On wards and upwards from here girls!
Pennant B 2 drew PHSK 2
Great first half was played as the team all worked very well, and the opposition seemed slightly intimidated. 2-1 up at half time with them scoring right before the whistle. The second half FHC seemed to let the guards down a little, however there were many missed opportunities in the circle, unable to convert to goals. PHSK scored off a drag flick off short corner late in the second half, with 2 minutes to go. The team fought very hard, everyone played well and unfortunately the score board did not reflect this at all.
Metro 1 North 0 lost ALT 1
FHC M1N suffered the first loss for the season on Saturday night at Altona. It was a pretty tight game in the first half, with Altona having the better of the opportunities. Altona scored from a penalty corner early in the second half but FHC had 30 minutes left to get on the scoreboard. FHC probably tended to rush a bit from here on, trying to force the ball through the top of the circle. Although the team created plenty of chances, including numerous penalty corners, could not find the equaliser. The best thing is another game is only a week away, so we take our lessons and move on!

Metro 2 South 5 def Southern United 1 Goals T Bezzobs 2, R Hockaday, R Holland, M Di Benedetto
The FHC team were on fire today, driving home 3 goals in the first half including first time goal scorer Robyn Hockaday who picked up a stray rebound and pushed it to the backboard (well done on your first goal ever Robyn!). Second half began with a brilliant team goal that was distributed from the backline FHC stick to FHC stick to culminate in a beautifully timed pick-up and goal from Tania Bezobbs. Southern United were able to claw one back late in the second half, only to have a quick response from the FHC goal machines! Goals: Tania Bezobbs 2, and 1 each to Robyn Hockaday, Rebecca Holland and Mirella De Bendetto. This win takes FHC into second place on the ladder!
