It was a magnificent day on and off the pitch for Round 5 Women’s Round vs Southern United Hockey Club. On the pitch the top 2 Men’s & Women’s teams each came away with the 3 points and off the pitch was totally on point with the theme of the round.
Pink women adorned the pitch, pink socks, pink afternoon tea and dontions for National Breast Cancer Foundation. We had the pleasure of FHC member Doctor Kirsty Forsdike, speak to the Premier Leauge Women at the afternoon tea about Women in Sport and how good it is for their physical and mental health.
Kirsty is a Senior Researcher in Women’s Safety and Senior Lecturer in Sport Management. She is Chair of the La Trobe Violence Against Women Research Network at La Trobe University. She is a member of the Family Violence Policy Advocacy Network and a research member of the Centre for Sport and Social Impact at La Trobe University. Kirsty teaches undergraduate sport management and research methods to postgraduate students. She continues to dabble in a masters game or two for FHC while training for long distance triathlons. She is in training at the moment for the June Cairns IRON MAN and was very welcomed while she spoke of the importance of connection to a club and sport. Thank you Kirsty.
