Local Elder, Ian Hunter, descendent of the Wurundjeri-William people, will open our NAIDOC Family Day.
Protocols for formally welcoming guests to Country (Tanderrum) have been a part of Wurundjeri culture for thousands of years. Tanderrum allowed neighbouring tribes temporary access resources and safe passage on Wurundjeri homelands.
We are glad to have Ian attending as a way to recognise and pay our respect to First Nations People as well as acknowledging the ongoing connection of Wurudjeri People to the land on which we play the game of hockey.
