We are incredibly proud to have two of our members named as finalists in the Hockey Victoria Awards for Administrator of the Year. Thank you to Hockey Victoria for recognising the incredible work of our volunteers this year.
Mel Sanders has over 16 roles at the club, most notably as our Juniors Director. Whenever there is an additional task, Mel has put her hand up to assist the Club where needed.
She has had a particular focus on inclusion and has worked on a number of projects this year, including on the NAIDOC Week Organising Committee.
She has been our COVID coordinator and steered the Club through the everchanging regulatory landscape and done all this while coaching, umpiring and playing!
Howard Nicklas was key in bringing together our first NAIDOC Week event. Applying for the grant on behalf of the club, he worked tirelessly to deliver the successful event earlier this year.
We are very grateful for Howard’s focus on inclusion, he has a passion for ensuring that all members of the community feel a part of this club which makes the club a better place.
He has also been our Mens PL team manager and a member of our events and grants teams. He has assisted in making a number of grant applications throughout the year.
We are very grateful for all of the incredible work of both of these members and congratulate them on this honour!
Finally, congratulations to Jemma Aitchison of Portland Hockey Club for taking out the award.
