Congratulations to Greg Hopkins for reaching the magnificent milestone of 900 games, he will celebrate this achievement 8.00pm Wednesday 2nd August @ FHC with the 50’s Masters team.
Greg has been a part of Footscray Hockey Club since 1971 where he has played 138 junior games, 619 senior games and 134 masters games as at the end of 2022. Greg continues to play senior men’s and 50’s masters this season.
Greg was awarded life membership in 2017 after being a junior coach 15+ years and on the Junior Committee for 10 years and Men’s 1sts coach 3 years. He was the boys club champion 1978-79 and Senior Men’s Club Champion 1979, 1987, 1988. Team manager for the Women’s Premier League 5 years and currently assisting Harry Zac in the role this season.
Currently Greg is the Director of Planning and Performance on the Board, a position he has held for 3 years after 2 years on the board as Promotions and Fundraising in the 90’s.
Greg is the 3rd member to surpass 900 games after Neil Coster and Alby Speed and holds the 3rd highest games record for the club.
Supported by his wife Lynda who has racked up 500+ games for the club and 3 children Ryan, Lauren and Georgia who are all current members, plus the whole hockey community we congratulate Hoppo on this milestone!
