For Day 2 of NAIDOC week, we are highlighting @salty_one_here. Salty One Aka Lowell Hunter, displayed his artwork at last years FHC NAIDOC week family day. His incredible artwork is made using only his feet and captures our beautiful natural landscapes from above.
Lowey’s stunning artwork saw him awarded the inaugural creative talent award at the 2022 National NAIDOC Awards.
Lowey is a proud Nyul Nyul Saltwater man from the Kimberley’s in Western Australia, who grew up on Gunditjmara Country in Warrnambool, and now lives on Wathaurong Country, Geelong.
Unfortunately Lowey isn’t able to make it to our family day this year. But fortunately it is because he is setting up his own gallery space in Geelong! Once we have the gallery details we will be sure to share them with our followers. �
National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
