It is with immense sadness that we heard of the passing of Katey Tarr after a short illness at the age of 27. Katey moved to the western suburbs from South Africa 7 years ago and has played at FHC for 5 seasons. She settled in straight away into hockey life training and playing in Pennant C and D. Katey is remembered as a kind and friendly person who encouraged her teammates and played a variety of defensive positions with ease.
With her tall presence, long reach, and big hit, Katey made it very difficult for the opposition to get past her. Katey and her team particularly loved when she came up in attacking short corners to hit and Katey would often find the backboard. A highlight of Katey’s time at FHC was when she played in the 2024 Pennant C grand final, coming Runners Up.
We pass our sincere condolences to Katey’s family, friends and hockey teammates. The entire club will wear black armbands in her honour this weekend.
The service details for Katey are as follows. Tuesday 21 June 1.30pm at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Everingham Rd. & Queen St., Altona Meadows.
